CRUTCHLOW ON THE FIFTH ROW

Cal Crutchlow will start the Valencia Grand Prix from the fifth row of the grid after narrowly missing out on Q2 in Saturday’s qualifying. The LCR Honda CASTROL rider struggled to find the same rhythm he showed on Friday as rain brought about more difficult track conditions and eventually had to settle for 13th position on the grid.

Sitting in seventh overnight, the Briton was 13th fastest in FP3 but only missed out on automatic qualification to Q2 by four thousandths as he finished in 11th in the combined times. He came close to advancing via the Q1 session, but was just edged into third spot by Brad Binder and Fabio Quartararo and will now look for a fast start in tomorrow’s race.
